Child Predator Arrested

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- On May 1, 2024, Constable Ryan Gable’s Detectives assigned to Children’s Safe Harbor coordinated the arrest of adult male for sexually abusing a child. As a result of an investigation, Detectives were able to arrest Marquet Shumate for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. The investigation stemmed from a report received from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services alleging the sexual assault of a child by Shumate. It was discovered during the investigation that Shumate is a pilot who frequently flies out of the United States. With assistance from multiple federal agencies, Detectives learned that Shumate was flying from Canada to Miami, Florida on May 1st. Upon Shumate’s arrival into Opa-Locka Executive Airport in Miami, Federal authorities took Shumate into custody, and he was transported to the Miami-Dade County Jail. Shumate’s bond has been set at $100,000 out of Montgomery County.
