Memorial Day 'Honor and Remember' at Forest Park The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Forest Park, The Woodlands is hosting the 16th Annual Memorial Day “Tribute to Heroes and Freedom” on Monday, May 27 starting at 10:00am. The park is located at 18000 Interstate 45 South in The Woodlands. This is a free community event to include a Presentation of the Colors by The Woodlands Fire Department, A Wreath Ceremony, patriotic music, and Guest Speaker, Marine Corps Veteran Chris Sadler of Honor Cafe.

Attendees are invited to enjoy food catered by Honor Cafe following the ceremony at no charge.

It is easy to see Memorial Day as a chance to host a backyard barbeque and relax on a day off from work. We can easily overlook why we have the freedom to do that,” said Melissa Wright, Funeral Home Manager at Forest Park The Woodlands. Our tribute service is an opportunity for everyone to slow down and really reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day - honoring the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Starting the morning with our tribute service sets the tone for a day filled with sincere gratitude and reminds us to be intentional with the freedoms we have. I love seeing the community come together for this, year after year.

Prior to the scheduled event, volunteers from American Heritage Girls and Boy Scouts of America Troops 777, Girls Troop 1777, Cub Scout Pack 777, and Venturing Crew 112 will assist with placing individual markers on the gravesites of Veterans to indicate the location for wreath laying.
