The National Weather Service has issued an Areal Flood Watch due to possible flooding caused by excessive rainfall for Montgomery County. The alert will be active from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning.

Impacts are that excessive runoff may result in the flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Widespread thunderstorms will develop across the area tomorrow afternoon, with the presence of a warm frontal boundary and abundant moisture providing favorable conditions for heavy rainfall. The flood threat will be further exacerbated by well-saturated soils still present across portions of the region due to significant antecdeant rainfall.

In general, 2 - 4" of new rainfall can be expected for areas north of the I-10 corridor through Thursday evening. Isolated locally higher totals of around 6" are possible as well. This may result in street flooding, as well as rises along area rivers and creeks.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
