The Oak Ridge War Eagle Football Team

The Oak Ridge High School War Eagles varsity football team is led by Head Coach and Athletic Director Mark Schmid.

Schmid took the reigns as the Head Coach of the War Eagles in 2019 after spending 30 years coaching at The Woodlands High School.

The team competes in District 13-6A. The War Eagles have been playing varsity football since 1984. The War Eagles made their very first playoff appearance in 1991, which was the program's first district championship.

The 2022-2023 season saw the War Eagles build an overall record of 7-4 along with a 6-2 record in district play, finishing in 3rd place. The team opened district play with back-to-back losses before going undefeated to finish out the regular season. Oak Ridge faced off against Dekaney High School in the Bi-District stage of the state playoffs where the War Eagles went down 45-20.

Entering 2023-2024, Oak Ridge will face the same opponents they saw last year but with flipped home and away games. The season opens on the road against Brenham High School on Friday, August 25th. The War Eagles' district play starts on Friday, September 8th against The Woodlands.
