Tektonic Athletic Development and Rehabilitation is a very unique facility that incorporates Athletic Development and Sports Rehabilitation.
Athletic Development encompasses 3 distinct characteristics that fitness clubs, local sports teams and personal training do not share. These characteristics are:
1) Highly sophisticated equipment and testing protocols designed for sport specific needs. See Equipment and Protocols below.
2) Highly trained staff qualified to administer and analyze these test results and who have the capacity to administer and manage sport specific training programs
3) Direct access to facilities whose wide ranging configurations are conducive for athletic development.
EQUIPEMENT
TEKTONICS’ commitment to athletes and athletic achievement is verifiable not only from our high level staff but also with the equipment we incorporate within our training programs.
We are only 1 of 4 companies within the greater Houston area that utilizes the BodPod body fat machine to validate our training programs.
We are 1 of only 4 companies in the nation that owns and operates the Excaliber Sport training bike that we use to measure pedal force and to which we use in our Power Wind Gate test. This machine is specifically geared for tri-athletes and professional bicyclists.
TEKTONIC also utilizes the Functional Squat machine to measure strength and weaknesses in injured knee and hip joints for our athletes, as well as the BTE (Baltimore Therapeutic Equipment) to measure strength and weaknesses in elbow and upper arm injuries, as well as in rehabilitation.
These machines transcend all sport genres and have been instrumental in separating ourselves from health clubs. This is just a sample of the highly sophisticated equipment our athletes are accustomed to. .
IN HOUSE ATHLETIC PROGRAMS AND PROTOCOLS
3 hour athletic assessment
12 week sport specific training programs
Performance Physical Therapy
Initially, all TEKTONIC athletes complete a 3 hour initial athletic assessment performed by motion specialist Dr. Tom Sutton and former NFL strength coach Steve Wetzel. This initial assessment is broken down into 3 visits consisting of 1 hour each. An example of the test thresholds completed at the end of this initial assessment is as follows:
40/60 yard dash*
5-10-5 agility test*
T-test*
Vertical Jump measurement
Functional Squat measurement
Interval speed test measuring heart rate efficiency **
Strength testing
BodPod body fat analysis composition
Tekscan plantar foot diagnosis***
*Infrared timers and Biomechanical breakdown of running mechanics performed by Dr. Sutton
**Integrated Polar heart monitor data collection
*** Performed by TEKTONIC Team physician Dr. Eric Pack
After the comprehensive initial athletic assessment is performed the athlete and athletes’ parents are consulted by Dr. Sutton and/or Mr. Wetzel on which type of sport specific training program is best for their athletic needs. TEKTONIC offers twice a week (2X), 3 times a week (3X), or 4 times a week (4X) training programs depending on the data gathered from the assessment. TEKTONIC recommends for 3X and 4X programs a balanced formula of strength and interval (speed) training sessions per week.
Performance Physical Therapy is a proprietary protocol designed and administered by Dr. Sutton which incorporates rehabilitation services into an athletic setting. Whether it be a tri-athlete with deficient hamstring strength or a golfer with lower lumbar injuries TEKTONIC provides traditional physical therapy using with a sport specific emphasis.
