9th Annual Cure PH Golf Tournament Exceeds its Goal for Pulmonary Hypertension Rearch

The Woodlands, Texas -- The 9th Annual Cure PH Golf Tournament recently raised more than $120,000 to help find a cure for pulmonary hypertension (PH).

The event helps raise money each year for PH research. One hundred percent of the event proceeds are distributed to help fund national research of the disease to discover better treatments and find a cure.

In its nine-year history, the event has raised more than $1 million for research.

"We are already seeing the difference we are making," said Jack Stibbs, local resident and Immediate Past Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. "It is with the help of our outstanding community, event sponsors and volunteers that we can help create new possibilities for research and awareness."

Sponsors included Accredo Health, Inc., Actelion, Alorica, Inc., Amegy Bank, AMPCO, CB&I, Chick-fil-A, Commute Solutions, Continental Airlines, Dr.Gleem, Encore Bank, Encysive, Entergy, FMC, Image Setters, K&M Technology Group, Lasagna House III, LJF Associates Advertising & Public Relations, LungRX, Patrick Connell McGinnis, Attorney at Law, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital, Montgomery & Associates, National Radio, Noble Energy, Pepsi, Pinnacle Residential Group, Rathwell & Nizialek, Re/Max – Vicki Fullerton, Sam’s Club, Stamar Packaging, Inc., Starzyk & Associates, TAG, The Courier, The Royal Hill Company, The Villager, The Woodlands Development Company, Truth Chemical, United Therapeutics Corporation, and Wells Fargo.

Pulmonary Hypertension is a life threatening disease that affects hundreds of thousands of people in the United States. At least thirteen of those live in Montgomery County.

PH is a rare and progressive disorder that can severely compromise the function of the heart and lungs. It is a simplified name for a complex health problem causing high blood pressure on the right side of the heart and lungs. It most frequently strikes women in their 20s and 30s and if misdiagnosed or left untreated, the disease can be fatal.
