THE WOODLANDS, Texas -– Golfers teed off for the Fourth Annual Swing for the Arts Golf Tournament at The Woodlands Country Club Palmer Course June 2. The Pavilion Partners, the official volunteer organization of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, hosted the tournament with 132 players and raised approximately $32,000 in proceeds to benefit The Pavilion’s performing arts events and educational outreach programs. This year, players were able to enter one of two categories, The Performing Arts Challenge or the new Pavilion Cup Challenge.

“We would like to thank our sponsors, players, staff and volunteers for the success of the Fourth Annual Swing for the Arts Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament exceeded our expectations and could not have happened without them,” said Mike Cote, committee chairman.

The winner of The Pavilion Cup Challenge was McGriff Seibels & Williams of Texas, Inc. The team received the title of “The Pavilion Cup” champion and holds the title for one year. The company name is displayed on “The Pavilion Cup” located at The Pavilion year-round. Additionally, the winning team received a smaller version of “The Pavilion Cup” for their company and was awarded a complimentary evening for up to 50 guests at one of The Pavilion’s performing arts events.

The Pavilion Cup Challenge second place team was Woodforest National Bank and the third place team was Wing Aviation. These teams were awarded plaques.

Winner of the Performing Arts Challenge was Kilgore Industries. Second and third place teams were Primal Energy and LD Systems. These teams were awarded trophies. Individual prizes included Putting and Chipping, Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive.

“This was the inaugural year for The Pavilion Cup Challenge and we were pleased that a third of our teams competed for The Cup. The winning team of McGriff Siebels and Williams of Texas, Inc. has already committed to defend their title of best company team in the region next year. I look forward to the growth of The Pavilion Cup Challenge and the success of the Swing for the Arts Golf Tournament,” said Cote.

Launched in 1998, The Pavilion Partners is an important part of The Pavilion. Partners supports The Pavilion through fund-raising for the performing arts and educational outreach programs, as well as awarding fine arts scholarships each spring.
