Local Scouts Donate Food and Clothing to Help Others

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Nathan Goelzer and Eric Menees, local scouts working toward their Eagle Badges, recently completed projects for Interfaith of The Woodlands.
Leading his troop, Goelzer collected over 1,340 pounds of food for the Interfaith of The Woodlands Food Pantry. As part of his responsibility, he and several troop members sorted and stocked the shelves with food.
Menees took a difference approach and held a “Jeans for Teens” junior boys jean drive. He collected, sorted, tagged, packed and donated over 400 pairs of junior boy and men jeans for resale at the Interfaith Hand Me Up Shop.
“Both donations are outstanding, and just in time for the holidays,” said Dr. Ann Snyder, President and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands. “As part of your Adopt-A Family holiday assistance program, Interfaith gives each family food and clothing vouchers.”
According to the Boy Scouts of America website, scouts planning to earn Eagle Scout ranking must plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to any religious institution, any school, or your community as the project should benefit an organization other than Boy Scouting. The project plan must be approved by the organization benefiting from the effort, the Scoutmaster and troop committee, and the council or district.
