THE WOODLANDS, Texas--The John Cooper School is building the 14th consecutive Habitat for Humanity house in Conroe during the 2012-2013 school year. The annual project is done in conjunction with Montgomery County Habitat.

Raising Awareness ‘The House that John Built XIV’

Work began in Cooper’s Upper School parking lot on August 18 at Small Walls Day, when over 30 walls were constructed by students, parents and faculty during a three-hour “building blitz.” The walls were transported to the construction site in Conroe and students will work at least two Saturdays a month until the home is finished, sometime in March or April.

Led by a steering committee of Upper School students, each division contributes to the success of the homebuilding project. On Habitat Awareness Day, September 10, Habitat Steering Committee members visited Lower School students in PK through Grade 5, to educate them about the project by leading fun related activities in each Lower School classroom.
