THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- To begin the 2012 concert season at Lone Star College-Montgomery, the Montgomery Jazz Ensemble is featuring guest jazz vocalist Julie Johnson in a performance of love songs on Tuesday, October 9, at 7:30 p.m., in the Recital Hall, located in the college’s Music Hall (Building H).

Johnson is a highly sought-after performer in the local Houston jazz scene, as well as in her native home of Chicago. She will perform alongside the college’s Jazz Ensemble to sing great love songs by Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart and Nat King Cole that were made famous by legendary performers such as Judy Garland, Lena Horne, and Frank Sinatra.

“This will be an evening you won't soon forget,” said Kris Chapman, director of bands and lead faculty in the music department at LSC-Montgomery. “Simply put, Julie is stellar! The first time I worked with her I knew I had to invite her to come sing with the Montgomery Jazz Ensemble. I am so thrilled to have her as our guest vocalist for this concert.”

Johnson has performed all over the world, and her music is regularly featured on KTSU 90.9 FM., Houston’s jazz station. As beautiful as she is talented, Johnson captivates her audience with her wide vocal range and vivacious and energetic performances.
