THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Friends of Montgomery County Texas Animal Shelter can’t get by without a little help from their ‘friends.’ For the third year, FMCTAS has been selected as the non-profit of choice for the gift-wrapping concession at The Woodlands Mall this holiday season. It’s a daunting task to staff the 200 volunteers required for the 6-week holiday shopping season.
“I don’t know how we do it, but we manage to get the job done,” said Sandra Hanson, the President of FMCTAS. “It’s a full-time job just coordinating the volunteers, but the work at the animal shelter has to get done too.”
The gift wrapping booth will be located on the second floor in front of the Food Court, and will be open from noon to 7 p.m. daily, from Black Friday after Thanksgiving, through Christmas Eve. Volunteers can work either the noon – 3:30 p.m. shift, or the 3:30 – 7 p.m. shift, or both. Volunteers are desperately needed to staff this effort. Why not consider this for a date night event, or if you’re accompanying a spouse to the mall to do holiday shopping, do your part. Anyone interested in ‘friending’ the FMCTAS by volunteering to wrap packages, needs to contact the organization by phone, website, or their Facebook page. The Woodlands Mall requires that volunteers be 18 years of age.
FMCAS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides medical assistance, including spay and neuter services, in addition to vaccines, and supplies for the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. In addition to fostering and adoption projects, the organization supports ‘No-Kill’ programs, and community outreach efforts. And if that isn’t enough, their dedicated volunteers need to wrap packages efficiently.
The funds the FMCTAS raises through this effort are essential to perpetuating their programs and covering the medical services and vaccines. The holiday season is about giving. Why not give the gift of a little of your time? If everyone donates just a little time, the Friends of Montgomery County Texas Animal Shelter will get by with a little help from their friends.
Update: Volunteers are still needed through Christmas Eve, now more than ever. Or if you need someone to wrap all those last minute gifts stop by the booth and have them all wrapped while donating to a great cause.
