Dynamo Selects Midfielders, Forwards in MLS Supplemental Draft

Westmont College Midfielder Taken in First Round

Houston, TX -- The Houston Dynamo selected of two midfielders and two forwards in the MLS Supplemental Draft.

The first of the team’s four picks was Johnny Alcaraz, midfielder at Westmont College of Santa Barbara, California. Other Dynamo picks include Craig Thompson, forward at the Colorado School of Mines, midfielder Kieran Hall of Fort Lewis (Colo.) College and forward James Georgeff of the University of Central Florida.

Alcaraz scored 11 goals for Westmont in 2007 and was named the All-Golden State Athletic Conference team. Alcaraz, from Santa Barbara, Calif., led the Warriors in goals and points in each of his three seasons at Westmont.

Thompson, from Littleton, Colo., was voted the All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year, scoring 17 goals for CSM in 2007.

Hall, a native of Blackburn, England, scored eight goals at Fort Lewis, including three game-winning goals. Hall was named to the All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference team.

Georgeff, a native of New Castle, Australia, is a 6’3” forward who scored four times in 2007 for Central Florida.

The Dynamo opens 2008 training camp Friday, February 1, 10:00 a.m. at the University of Houston’s Carl Lewis Track. The defending MLS Cup Champions will compete in the Pan Pacific Championship February 20 & 23 in Honolulu, Hawaii, and will host CONCACAF first round action vs. Guadalajara’s CSD Municipal March 19 at Robertson Stadium (7:30 p.m. CT). The Dynamo opens MLS play Saturday, March 29 at New England, prior to the home opener Sunday, April 6 (2:00 p.m. CT) against FC Dallas.
