College to Hold Bond Election Forum
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- The Lone Star College system has announced a series of community forums at each campus to give residents a chance to discuss it's proposed $420 million bond with Chancellor Richard Carpenter.
Carpenter will present information about the bond and answer questions from residents at all five colleges in the LSC system. The forum at LSC-Montgomery will be held on Tuesday, April 8, in Building B, Room 102, from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
The bond provides funding for new construction and renovations for the college system which include: academic and administrative support facilities; parking and safety improvements; new performing arts facilities; and a second University Center.
Since 2000, the LSC system has grown by 24,000 students. By 2015, the LSC system is anticipated to reach 72,000 students. Voters will make a decision on the bond during the May 10 election.
The $420 million bond provides funding for the following proposed projects:- $263.4 million: Instructional facilities
- $44.2 million: Student services facilities
- $38.3 million: Traffic and safety
- $25.9 million: Technology infrastructure
- $20.1 million: Five percent bond costs/inflation/contingencies
- $15.3 million: Academic support facilities
- $8.7 million: Plant system replacements
- $4.1 million: Administrative support facilities
