Houston Show Confirmed For November 18th At Toyota Center

Coldplay will launch their “Viva La Vida” North American tour with two sold-out shows at The Forum in Los Angeles on July 14th and 15th. Fans snapped up an impressive 30,000 tickets in under 45 minutes time for the Los Angeles dates this past Saturday. Tickets for the tour are scheduled to go on sale this weekend in San Jose, Chicago, Montreal, Toronto and Boston. On Sale information for the Houston date will be announced soon. The complete tour itinerary is listed below with additional on sale dates to be announced. Details are available at http://www.coldplay.com or at http://www.livenation.com

The first few dates of the North American tour have been rescheduled due to production delays. “We’re very sorry, but we promise you a show worthy of your patience and understanding when we start in mid-July,” said Coldplay. Tickets already purchased for these shows will be honored on the new dates.

To celebrate the “Viva La Vida” tour and their upcoming album of the same name (scheduled for release by Capitol Music Group on June 17th), the band will play free concerts in London (June 16th at the Brixton Academy) and New York City (June 23rd at Madison Square Garden). Tickets for these shows have already been given away via a contest, but fans are invited to turn out for Coldplay’s performance on the “TODAY” show on NBC on Friday, June 27th. Viewing is on a first-come, first-served basis outside the show’s Window on the World Studio, located at 49th Street and Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. The band will also perform on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” on June 26th.

Renowned director/photographer Anton Corbijn will lens the video for the album’s title track. “Viva La Vida” just jumped to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the highest-charting Hot 100 hit of the band’s career. “Violet Hill,” the first single from the upcoming album, is a Top10 hit at Modern Rock radio and the accompanying video is receiving massive exposure on MTV (Big 10 rotation), VH1 (Large rotation), MTV2 (Elite 8 rotation), MTV Hits, mtvU, MTV Tr3s, FUSE, Music Choice and The N. Produced by Brian Eno and Markus Dravs, Viva La Vida is the follow-up to 2005’s X&Y, which debuted at #1 in 32 countries and has sold 10 million copies worldwide to date.
