College Partners for Accounting Training

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- Local aspiring accountants have another resource to help them reach their goal, thanks to a partnership between Lone Star College-Montgomery and Becker Professional Review. Beginning this summer, LSC-Montgomery will offer training segments in all four areas of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam, including regulations, financial, audit and business.

The classes, which will be taught by Becker CPA Review trained instructors, are offered on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. In addition to the Financial review segment, which began earlier this summer, other segments are set to begin soon. The Audit review segment starts July 19 and concludes August 2; the Regulation review segment begins August 23 and ends September 20; and the Business review segment starts October 18, ending November 1.

The requirements for taking the CPA exam include 150 semester hours taken and a bachelor’s degree. Additionally, students must have completed a minimum of 30 upper-division hours in accounting above the principles level, and 24 upper-division hours of related business courses plus three hours of ethics.

According to Becker, its students pass at twice the rate of all CPA exam candidates who did not take a Becker Review course, based on averages of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants published pass rates.

Students must register through Becker, and current and former Lone Star College students receive a discount. The cost is $2,825 for the entire program. Individual review segments are $1,005. Students can reach Becker at (800) 868-3900 or the link below.
