Massage for the Cure Set for September 15

HOUSTON, Texas --Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Houston affiliate, honored the inaugural Massage for the Cure by naming Massage Envy as the “2007 Community Service Group,” during its Pink Ribbon Reception held recently at Macy’s Galleria location.

The 2008 Massage for the Cure fund-raising event is September 15, said Lance O’Pry, regional developer for the 23 area Massage Envy locations.

“Last year more than 1,900 Houston area residents generously donated a total of $61,000 to Komen, all while enjoying one-hour massages by licensed therapists,” said Michele Ostrander, executive director, Houston Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Houston affiliate. “We’re grateful that all Houston area Massage Envy clinics dedicated their entire day – from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. – to giving massages free of charge simply in exchange for a donation of any amount. Now that’s generosity.”

Reservations for 2008 Massage for the Cure appointments will be accepted for the entire week preceding the event, beginning at 8 a.m., Monday, September 8. “Make an appointment by calling the Massage Envy clinic that is most convenient to you,” said O’Pry.

Location information for all 23 area Houston-area Massage Envy is available online at the Massage Envy Web site, as well as information about Massage for the Cure Day. O’Pry said each Massage Envy location will offer information about breast cancer, a disease that affects nearly 213,000 women each year.

“We’re proud to be part of this great event,” said O’Pry.
