Fall Vegetable Gardening Class Announced
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Learn to grow your own vegetables this fall with Tom LeRoy, horticultural agent for Texas AgriLife Extension Service, at a free class offered by the Community Associations of The Woodlands on Saturday, August 2, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Suburban vegetable gardening is enjoying a resurgence of interest nationwide as a source of quality produce, recreation and economizing. Some vegetables are compact growers and require very little space, according to LeRoy.
“You can raise a tomato plant in a barrel, grow bush beans in a five-gallon pot or make a little salad garden in a four-by-four raised box garden,” he said.
Both experienced and novice gardeners will enjoy the free program, called Common-sense Vegetable Gardening for Fall. LeRoy will share tried and true methods for Montgomery County’s climate, a benefit for gardeners who have relocated from other regions.
To make a reservation for the free gardening class, please call 281-210-3900. Due to limited class size, reservations are required. The program will be held at the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Services building at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive, off Research Forest Drive.
