The Woodlands Township Elects Officers

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Township Board of Directors recently elected officers for The Woodlands Township to serve one-year terms through May 2010.

Nelda Luce Blair was elected Chairman of the Board and Lloyd Matthews and Bruce Tough were elected Vice Chairman. Alex Sutton was elected as Secretary and Vicki Richmond was elected as Treasurer/Assistant Secretary to The Woodlands Township Board of Directors.

“I am delighted to serve as Chairman of the Board for this incredible organization,” Blair said. “We have a very talented group of directors and staff members at The Woodlands Township working diligently to continue making The Woodlands one of the most desired places to live and visit in the entire world. We have great opportunities to determine our own future while preserving our history and enhancing the quality of life in The Woodlands.”

Nelda Luce Blair
Blair, a resident of The Woodlands for more than 20 years, has served on The Woodlands Township Board of Directors since 1999. She is in her third term as Chairman of the Board. She also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau and has served as past Chairman of the Board for the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce and the Montgomery County Road Bond Committee, as well as a past member of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Board of Trustees. Mrs. Blair was named to the University of Houston Board of Regents by Texas Governor Rick Perry in 2008. Mrs. Blair was also named one of The Woodlands’ 2005 Hometown Hero.

Lloyd Matthews
Matthews, a resident of The Woodlands since 1998, has served on The Woodlands Association Board of Directors since 2000 and served as a member of the Board of Indian Springs Village Association since 1999. Mr. Matthews currently is the Secretary of the Board of Directors for The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Bruce Tough
Tough, a resident of The Woodlands since 1974, serves as a director for The Woodlands Community Association, President for The Woodlands Fire Department, and Chairman for the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Tough received the Hometown Hero award in 2004 and Citizen of the Year award from the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce in 2006.

Alex Sutton
Mr. Sutton, a resident of The Woodlands since 1994, is the co-president of The Woodlands Development Company. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the North Houston Association, Vice Chairman of the Montgomery County Youth Services, President of The Woodlands Waterway Arts Council, and is a director of the Montgomery County Developer’s Association.

Vicki Richond
Richmond, a resident of The Woodlands for over 30 years, was first elected to the Township Board in 1993. She is a past Director of The Woodlands Community Association and Director of the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Richmond also serves as Treasurer/Assistant Secretary and is Chairman of The Woodlands Township’s Audit Committee.
