ESPN Rise Names TWHS Nation's Top Athletic Program

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands High School was ranked as the top athletic program in the country for the 2008-2009 school year, according to ESPN RISE FAB 50 rankings. The ranking system takes into account 13 different sports, which include: football, boys' volleyball, girls' volleyball, boys' basketball, girls' basketball, boys' soccer, girls' soccer, baseball and softball.

TWHS athletics had an outstanding year, winning state titles in boys' and girls' cross country and girls' swimming and diving. In addition, the football, volleyball and boys' swimming teams each won district championships. TWHS also won its second consecutive Texas Class 5A Lone Star Cup, which ranks schools based on a school's overall athletic success.
