Pediatric Hospitalist Program Now at St. Luke's
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Oct. 16, 2009 -- A pediatric hospitalist program has begun at St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital.
A team of local pediatricians are available for coverage, seven days a week. The physicians include Daniel Maloney, MD, Paula Kruppstadt, MD, Judy Rhee, MD, Morganne Mathew, MD, and Anu McDonald, MD. Each of these pediatricians on the hospitalist team is well-known in the local community. This represents St. Luke’s ongoing commitment to deliver quality healthcare programs to meet the growing needs of our local and surrounding communities.
The pediatric hospitalist program was developed to address the increasing number of pediatric patients presenting in the Emergency Department at St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital with a need for inpatient admission but without an established relationship with a pediatrician on staff at the hospital.
“This program provides enhanced care for children and a more efficient process for pediatricians,” explained Charles T. Hankins, MD, Medical Director of the Neonatal ICU at St. Luke’s The Woodlands.
St. Luke’s is the only hospital in the area to have board certified pediatric emergency room physicians who are available to treat patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Working in concert with Texas Children’s Hospital®, this new program at St. Luke’s offers a continuum of pediatric care from the newborn period through adolescence.
“The new pediatric hospitalist program demonstrates another example of the strong affiliation between Texas Children’s Hospital and St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital,” explained Debby Roberts, Director – Women, Children, Oncology and Neuroscience Program.
