Lighting of the Doves Kicks off Holiday Season Today
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- This Saturday, Nov. 21, the holiday season kicks off in The Woodlands with the 27th Annual Lighting of the Doves, International Winter On The Waterway (iWOW), The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center and Donoho’s Jewellers Winter Wonderland.
Lighting of the Doves
The 27th Annual Lighting of the Doves will include interactive booths and games, an ice carving competition, snow play area, amazing fireworks, balloon artists, face painters, inflatables and much more. The festival will also include live music and entertainment for the entire family by Needfire, Houston Coral Showcase and other holiday entertainment. Santa will also be making his grand entrance in a dazzling, decorated boat from along The Woodlands Waterway® at 6:30 p.m.
Presented by the Community Associations of The Woodlands, the 27th Annual Lighting of the Doves will take place at Town Green Park, located at 2099 Lake Robbins Drive, from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. Admission to the festivities is free and open to the public. Don't forget to stop by the Woodlands Online booth and get a candy cane or blinking ring while they last.
International Winter On The Waterway (iWOW)
In conjunction with the Lighting of the Doves, International Winter On The Waterway (iWOW) will also take place at Town Green Park on Saturday from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. iWOW will showcase holiday traditions from Japan, Panama, the United States and a myriad of other countries at exhibits along the banks of The Woodlands Waterway®.
The festival will include: foods, arts & crafts, music and entertainment. Entertainment will include the Cass Irish Dancers, Yosakoi, La Tempestad, among others. Admission to this festival is also free and open to the public.
The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center
The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center, presented by Jaguar and Land Rover Houston North, will be open daily beginning Saturday.
As the largest seasonal outdoor ice rink in the Southwest, The Ice Rink will remain open through January 18, 2010. Located at the northeast corner of Lake Robbins and Six Pines Drive, The Ice Rink is open:
Monday through Thursday, 3 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Friday, 3 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Saturday, 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Sunday, noon until 7 p.m.
Weekday tickets are $9.50 for adults and $5 for children five and over (includes $2.50 skate rentals). Weekend tickets are $10.50 for adults and $6 for children 5 and over (includes $2.50 skate rentals).
Visitors can also pick up a $2 off admission coupon at Which Wich Superior Sandwiches or visit Fidelity Investments in The Woodlands for a Buy One Get One Free coupon.
Donoho’s Jewellers Winter Wonderland
Donoho’s Jewellers Winter Wonderland features illuminated holiday scenes and storybook displays surrounding The Ice Rink. Visitors can wander through the fantasyland of magical, lighted toy soldiers, elves, doves, musical angels and snowmen from dusk until 11 p.m., Nov. 21 through January 4, 2010.
Free parking is available at the Green, Yellow and Orange lots on Timberloch Place.
