High Profile Attorney John O'Quinn Killed in Auto Accident
HOUSTON - High-profile attorney John O'Quinn, 68, was killed Thursday morning in a one-car auto accident on Allen Parkway.
According to police, O'Quinn was inside a Chevorlet Suburban traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when it jumped the median and slammed into a tree around 8 a.m. Another person in the vehicle, whose identity has not been released, was also killed.
O'Quinn was a trial lawyer made famous for cases against a breast implant manufacturer and the tobacco industry. He was a University of Houston Law Center graduate and several Houston landmarks bear his name, including the football field at UH, the UH law library, and various medical center institutions and buildings.
Authorities had not released an official cause of the accident at the time of this story.
