THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau and Donoho’s Jewellers are joining together for a Holiday Food Drive to benefit Interfaith of The Woodlands.

Beginning November 1, 2009 through January 18, 2010, visit Donoho’s Jewellers on Six Pines Drive and bring non-perishable food items including canned items, soup, pasta, snack foods, cooking helpers, protein items, condiments, desserts, cereal, personal care items, household items, and diapers. Donations of 10 items or more will receive a free admission to The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center (limit one per family). Any items brought in will receive a $2 off coupon to The Ice Rink.

In December 2008, 2,636 individuals were assisted with food from the Interfaith Food Pantry. Comparing January through September 2008 to January through September 2009, Interfaith has had a 23% increase in the number of clients coming to Interfaith for assistance. However, Interfaith expects this percentage to increase during the holidays.

“Interfaith of The Woodlands greatly appreciates the ongoing support of The Woodlands Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and Donoho’s Jewellers,” says Dr. Ann Snyder, President and CEO of Interfaith. “Our food pantry shelves are low, the food drive and the support from the community will enable us to spread joy to many, many individuals this holiday season.”

Donoho’s Jewellers has been a continuous sponsor of The Woodlands Winter Wonderland which is scheduled to open Saturday, Nov. 21, and features illuminated holiday scenes and storybook displays surrounding The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center.

“Donoho’s Jewellers is thrilled at the opportunity to give back to our community and help families in need. We wish everyone Happy Holidays and hope they enjoy the beautiful “Winter Wonderland” with their families,” said Richard van der Dys, Donoho’s Jewellers Store Director.

Located at the northeast corner of Lake Robbins and Six Pines Drive, visitors can wander through the fantasyland of magical, lighted toy soldiers, elves, doves, musical angels and snowmen from dusk until 11 p.m., Nov. 21 - Jan. 4.
