Woodlands Election Results: Propositions Pass

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The results are in for the Nov. 3 bond election and three important propositions concerning The Woodlands Township passed.

Fire Stations
Proposition 1 passed by a vote of 5, 216 (75 percent) for and 1,730 (24.91 percent) against. It will allow construction of three fire stations and the purchase of firefighting equipment for a total of $17.335 million. The new fire stations will be located in the Villages of Indian Springs and Creekside Park. The funding will also allow for reconstruction of Central Fire Station on Grogan’s Mill Road. The funds from this proposition will also be used to purchase equipment for these stations and to pay any Emergency Service District (ESD) debt allocable to The Woodlands Township upon removal of Township territory from the overlapping taxing jurisdiction of the ESD.

Parks
Proposition 2 passed by a vote of 4,616 (66.56 percent) for and 2,319 (33.44 percent) against. It will allow for construction of parks and pathways, purchase of related equipment and renovation projects at existing parks and pools for a total of $12.380 million. This funding will be used to fund a portion of the park, pathway, park improvement and pool renovation capital projects included in the five-year capital improvements plan.

Bond Refinancing
Proposition 3 was passed by a vote of 5,081 (73.93 percent) for and 1,792 (26.07 percent) against. It will allow permanent, tax-exempt bond refinancing of assumed debt in the amount of $20.225 million. This funding will be used to refinance existing debt assumed by the Township from the Community Associations and The Woodlands Fire Department.
