THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- If you missed the annual Leukemia/Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk on Oct. 25, you can still get involved and help CRUSH out Blood Cancer.

Join us for a glass of wine on the rooftop at CRUSH Wine Lounge in The Woodlands and CRUSH Out Blood Cancer! The wine social event, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, 5:30 – 7 p.m., cost just $25 and benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Funds raised enable scientists to continue their research. LLS-funded research has led to key advances in understanding blood cancers and has helped produce new treatments to enhance and prolong lives. The relative five year survival rate for patients with leukemia has nearly quadrupled in the last 48 years. The five year survival rate for patients with Hodgkin lymphoma more than doubled between 1960 and 2005, to just over 86%.

Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma are cancers that originate in the bone marrow and lymphatic tissues. Every 5 minutes, someone in the United States learns that they have leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma – nearly 300 people a day and that statistic continues to rise.

Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults under the age of 20. An estimated 912,000 Americans are presently living with, or in remission from leukemia, lymphoma Hodgkin’s disease or myeloma. Every 9 minutes, another child or adult dies from a blood-related cancer. This statistic represents 165 people daily.
