Holiday Choir Concert to Benefit Interfaith
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Continuing the annual tradition of performing to benefit a local non-profit organization, the Lone Star College-Montgomery choir and band will perform a holiday concert on Friday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m., in the college’s mainstage theatre in Building D. All proceeds and contributions will be donated to Interfaith of The Woodlands, a faith-based organization that brings people together to build a more loving and caring community through service.
The concert will feature the LSC-Montgomery Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, performers from Divisi Strings, and Houston-based harpist, Yinuo Mu.
“We’re delighted to be raising money for Interfaith of The Woodlands,” said Dominick DiOrio, director of choirs at LSC-Montgomery. “The organization plays such an important role in bringing aid to our local community, and we are so happy to partner with them for our annual holiday choir concert."
The theme of this year's holiday concert is “Ceremony of Carols.”
“The carol is one of the oldest forms of music still performed today, and it has its roots in early folk songs from the middle ages,” explained DiOrio. “The musical centerpiece of the program is Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, which brings together ancient melodies and texts with the other worldly sounds of the harp.”
This is the fourth year that proceeds from the holiday concert have been donated to a local non-profit organization.
“Interfaith of the Woodlands is delighted and honored to be the recipient of the proceeds from the holiday choir concert,” said Dr. Ann Snyder, CEO and president of Interfaith of The Woodlands. “We are appreciative of the support shown to our community by LSC-Montgomery as we can continue to serve our families in need this holiday season.”
Tickets for the holiday concert cost $10 each, and additional donations will be accepted. To purchase tickets or to make a donation, contact Denise Meyers at 936 273-7021. Tickets can also be purchased online at MyCommunityTickets.com.
