Rowing Club of the Woodlands Names Tara Dalton Rower of the Year

THE WOODLANDS, Texas --Tara Dalton, 16, a junior at The Woodlands High School and member of the Rowing Club of the Woodlands (RCTW) Juniors Crew, has been named Rower of the Year by the Rowing Club of The Woodlands.

Dalton has won gold medals in Varsity quad boats, singles and with boat mate Marjorie Ferrone in the women’s junior double. Tara also serves as a junior representative to the RCTW board, assists in the club’s Learn to Row classes, and always goes the extra mile volunteering for all the community service work the juniors do.

“Tara is an overachiever as far as rowing goes. She is supportive of the new kids on the team; she doesn’t miss practice, works through the pain and soreness associated with hard physical training, and does her homework about other top teens and their rowing performances before events” says Coach Leonard Anderson. “Tara likes to make bold predictions about her abilities and then figures out how to make it happen.'

RCTW, located at Northshore Park in The Woodlands, is dedicated to the advancement of rowing and is a registered member of the United States Rowing Association (US Rowing), the national governing body for the sport in the US. Established in 1882, US Rowing is America's oldest amateur sports association. Rowing Club of The Woodlands, Inc. is a registered 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation.
