Primary Election Results

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Results for the Democratic and Republican primary elections held on Tuesday, March 2, have been released by Montgomery County Elections.

Republican Primary
Texas Governor Rick Perry won Montgomery County’s Republican primary with 65 percent of the vote ( 26272 total votes) over Kay Bailey Hutchison with 21 percent (8, 477 total votes) and Debra Medina with 14 percent (5, 926). For all of Texas, Perry also won with a 50 percent majority over Kay Bailey Hutchison's 30 percent.

In the race for County Judge, incumbant Alan Sadler won with 71 percent of the vote ( 23,469 total votes) over Richard Hickey with 29 percent (9,811 total votes).

The District 8 U.S. Congressional primary was won by ?Cong. Kevin Brady with 76 percent of the vote (29, 409 total votes) for the U.S. 8th Congressional District. Tyler Russell of The Woodlands garnered 7 percent of the vote ( 2,587 total votes).

In the race for District 15 State Representative, State Rep. Rob Eissler won 70 percent of the vote (11,924 total votes) to defeat Rob Thomas with 30 percent (5,031 total votes).

In a tight race for District Judge, 221st Judicial District, Lisa Benge Michalk lead with 27 percent (9,029 total votes) followed by John Devine with 26.5 percent (8,961 total votes), Scott Goleman with 25.6 percent (8,665 total votes) and David O’Neil with 21 percent (7,104 total votes).

Another close race was for Justice, Supreme Court 3; Debra Lehrman lead with 22 percent (6, 871 total votes) followed by Rick Green 21 percent (6,591 total votes) , Rebecca Simmons 18.4 percent (5,559 total votes), Jeff Brown 18.1 percent (5,552 total votes), Jim Mosely 13 percent (4, 013 total votes) and Rick Strange 7 percent (2, 080 total votes).

In the race for Justice of the Supreme Court 9, Eva Guzman won with 63 percent of the vote ( 19,266 total votes) over Rose Vela with 37 percent (11,191 total votes).

In the race for Judge County Court at Law No. 2, J.D. Lambright lead with 31.5 percent of the vote (10,103 total votes) followed by Claudia Laird with 26 percent (8,281 total votes), Tracy McNeill Pullan with 22 percent (7,150 total votes) and Kristin Bays with 20 percent (6,534 total votes).

In the race for District Clerk, Barbara Gladden Adamick won with 72 percent of the vote (22,574 total votes) over Cambi A. Cartwright with 28 percent (8,912 total votes).

Ed Rinehart won the primary for County Commissioner, Precinct 4 with 59 percent of the vote (4,212 total votes) over Monte Harris Lane with 27 percent (1,920 total votes), Hank Murray 8 percent ( 591 total votes) and Clarence Quinn 6 percent (411 total votes). All 5 propositions on the Republican ballot passed with a large majority of the vote.

Democratic Primary
In the Democratic primary for Governor, former Houston Mayor Bill White took 90 percent of the vote while Farouk Shami had 6 percent (289 total votes) in Montgomery County. White won the state primary with 76 percent of the vote to Shami's 12 percent.

In the race for Lt. Governor, Linda Chavez-Thompson lead with 45 percent (1,728 total votes) over Ronnie Earl with 40 percent (1,543 total votes) and Marc Katz with 14 percent (549 total votes).

In the race for Texas Agriculture Commissioner, Kinky Friedman carried 54 percent of the vote (2,119 total votes) over Hank Gilbert’s 46 percent (1,820 total votes) in Montgomery County. However, Gilbert won the state primary with 52 percent of the votes over Friedman's 47 percent.

In the race for Commissioner of General Land Office Bill Burton lead with 60 percent of the vote (2,125 total votes) over Hector Uribe with 40 percent (1,437 total votes).
