State Sen. Tommy Williams issues Proclamations of Appreciation as the Foundation presented $230,000 to twenty non-profit organizations

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - In recognition of its fifth anniversary, and demonstrating its mission of enriching lives through the act of giving, Woodforest Charitable Foundation held an Appreciation Luncheon on Sept. 2 at Amerigo’s Grille for the 20 local charities it currently supports. A total of $230,000 in various distributions was made to each charity.

Senator Tommy Williams, along with Kim Marling, executive director of WCF, and Vicki Richmond, treasurer of WCF, personally handed each charity’s representative a Proclamation of Appreciation, commending them for their work and the contributions they have made to the community, and recognizing the partnership and support that WCF has made to help the charities attain their missions.

Charities included Boys & Girls Country, Bridgewood Farms, Children’s Miracle Network, Children’s Safe Harbor, Conroe Family YMCA, Habitat for Humanity, Houston Food Bank, Humane Society of Montgomery County, Interfaith of The Woodlands, Montgomery County Emergency Assistance, Montgomery County Food Bank, Montgomery County Women's Center, Montgomery County Youth Services, North Channel Assistance Ministries, Special Angels of The Woodlands, Texas New Community Alliance (New Danville), The Community Clinic, The Friendship Center, The Rose, and TOMAGWA.

The Woodforest Charitable Foundation was created by Woodforest National Bank in 2005 as a direct result of its desire to support and invest in the communities in which it serves. The bank has provided a total of $6 million in endowment.

The Foundation is creating a legacy of commitment to those in need, enriching lives and communities through dedicated leadership and faithful administration by providing funding to qualifying 501(c)(3) charities. In 2010 the Foundation supported 128 charities in 17 states where Woodforest branches operate. Woodforest Charitable Foundation has donated $1,334,000 over the past five years of which $612,237 has been given to Montgomery and Harris County areas.

“As we mark our fifth anniversary of the Foundation, which also coincides with Woodforest National Bank’s 30th anniversary, we are proud to take a moment to formally show our appreciation of these great charities that we believe make a significant impact on individuals and families in our community,” said Kim Marling. “What better way to celebrate than to bring all these wonderful organizations together for the opportunity to network and discover how they might creatively help one another.”

Senator Tommy Williams, who also serves as president of Woodforest Financial Services, said, “I joined the Woodforest family ten years ago, and I have always been so proud of our contributions to Montgomery County. Over the years as the bank grew into other states, we duplicated our great tradition of community support into those communities that we began to serve. I thank these charities who are on the front line and for what you do and how much it means to the people in Montgomery County.”

Kim Marling added, “I am proud of the support that our Foundation has provided over the last five years, especially now when there is a greater need within the community and a greater demand on charities – many of which are experiencing a decrease in giving during these difficult times. We continue to strengthen the legacy and tradition that Woodforest National Bank started many years ago.”
