THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The South Montgomery County YMCA Cycling Instructors recently hosted their annual Spin-a-Thon. The charity event features a 3 hour ride on indoor cycling bikes. Participants can choose to ride for a 1, 2 or 3 hours.

More than 90 percent of the participants accepted the challenge and rode the entire 3 hours. The 3 hour ride was broken up into segments, with a different instructor leading the ride every 30 minutes. When the instructors were not leading the class, they were walking through the class serving water, fruit and sports drink to the riders to ensure everyone was properly hydrated. The event also featured a silent auction and lots of healthy snacks after the ride.

The annual spin-a-thon raised $1,000 for the YMCA Partners Campaign. Funds raised for the campaign ensures the YMCA is available to all regardless of financial resources. More than $500,000 in scholarships is awarded annually to local families so they can participate in YMCA mission driven programs, reap the benefits of a YMCA experience and help their children reach their fullest potential.
