THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The Woodlands Lacrosse Club will host the 23rd Annual Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) Boys Division I and Division II Lacrosse State Championships on the weekend of May 6-8 at Woodforest Bank Stadium in Shenandoah.

The State Championships will consist of the top four teams from both Division I & Division II Texas High Schools for a total of eight teams. These teams will be from the Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and Houston areas. No more than two of the eight teams will be from the Houston area and those that are can be traveling from as far as Clear Lake. Each team will consist of approximately 30 players (a conservative estimate) and at least two coaches. It is anticipated each team will bring with it a group of supporting fans.

Each team is encouraged to arrive on Friday afternoon as they will have scheduled practice time on the Woodforest Bank Stadium field on Friday night, May 6th. Four semi-final games will be held on Saturday during the day while the final two championship games will be held on Sunday afternoon. There will be other entertainment events for players of the eliminated teams to participate on Sunday in order to entice them to stay Saturday night.

Hotel rooms have been reserved at very attractive rates that will make it easy for teams and fans to stay both Friday and Saturday night at Shenandoah host hotels. Shenandoah restaurants are also looking forward to legion of fans and the teams when they arrive.

The Texas High School Lacrosse League is over 77 Member School Programs strong in 2011, and is home to 143 Varsity and JV teams and over 3,700 high school student athletes across the State of Texas. The THSLL provides the environment for a positive experience and motivation for success – in lacrosse, the classroom, and in life beyond high school; helping build self-esteem and confidence; teaching teamwork and discipline; promoting pride and belonging, and offering an excellent avenue for exercise, competition, and recreation.

The Woodlands Lacrosse Association is the governing body for The Woodlands High School, Junior High lacrosse programs and our youth programs. Lacrosse in the state of Texas is not currently a UIL sponsored sport, so therefore it is not funded or facilitated by public high schools.

The Woodlands Lacrosse Association and the Texas High School Lacrosse League appreciates the support of the following organizations; Shenandoah Visitor and Convention Bureau, St Luke’s Lakeside Hospital, Harrow Sports, US Lacrosse-Houston Chapter, Texas Heat Lacrosse and Trilogy Lacrosse.
