Township honored with Clean Air Champion award
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -– The Woodlands Township was recently designated a Clean Air Champion by the Houston Galveston Area Council (HGAC) for its ongoing support of the Waterway Trolley service. The award was presented at the 2011 Clean Air Action Leaders Awards Luncheon in Houston.
In 2009, HGAC created the Clean Air Champion award to recognize businesses and local governments who have demonstrated their commitment to the community by voluntarily implementing measures to reduce emissions in the region.
“We are honored to receive this award and the recognition from the Houston Galveston Area Council,” said The Woodlands Township Chairman of the Board Bruce Tough. “The Woodlands has long been a ‘green’ community, even before ‘green’ was a hot topic. We value clean air, trees, water and transportation initiatives that help promote the natural environment.”
HGAC Director of Transportation Alan Clark said, “The Woodlands Township has consistently sought innovative transportation solutions to enhance mobility and improve quality of life. We appreciate The Woodlands’ participation in the Voluntary Mobile Source Emission Reduction Program (VMEP).”
