Realignment: Welcome Bryan, A&M Consolidated
Realignment, shrouded in all its mystery, left Conroe ISD schools The Woodlands, College Park, Oak Ridge, and Conroe with little change following the official UIL announcement Thursday. The CISD continued its ongoing relation with Lufkin High School and added Bryan and A&M Consolidated to form a seven-team District 14-5A for the next two years.
Punxsutawney Phil aside, the CISD schools lose Kingwood and Atascocita and gain the two Bryan/College Station schools. Realignment is often called the “best kept secret” but College Park High School football coach Richard Carson called it last week, telling WOL Sports that he thought this would be the new alignment. He was right.
Kingwood and Atascocita move to District 13-5A with the Klein and Spring schools to form a nine-team district.
A&M Consolidated was last aligned with Conroe ISD schools back in 1999 (District 15-5A) when The Woodlands and Conroe were the only 5A schools in CISD. Bryan was last aligned with CISD schools in 1997. Bryan and A&M Consolidated were aligned with CISD schools The Woodlands and Conroe from 1994-97.
