THE WOODLANDS, Texas –– Lone Star College-Montgomery is offering two bacterial meningitis vaccination clinics for students on Wednesday, July 25 and again on Aug. 8.

The events will be from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., July 25 and from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., Aug. 8 in the atrium of the Health Science Center (Building B).

In partnership with Travelvax Travel Health Clinic, LSC-Montgomery and the entire Lone Star College System are aiming to help students become compliant with the mandated Texas meningitis vaccination law requiring most incoming college students to be vaccinated against bacterial meningitis or provide an exemption request declining the vaccine at least 10 days before attending classes (Senate Bill 1107).

All students who are currently registered for the fall semester must submit a proof of vaccination by 7 p.m., Aug. 11 or they will be dropped from classes. Any student registering after Aug. 11 must submit a proof of vaccination or exemption along with payment for classes at the time of registration.

Students older than 18 will receive vaccinations for $115. Students age 18 and younger that are uninsured or underinsured will receive vaccinations for $14 through Texas Vaccines for Children.

All students must bring a valid picture ID to the clinic, and parent permission via signature is required for students under 18. Travelvax Travel Health Clinic will provide students with the Magnus proof of vaccination forms as they leave the clinic.

Students may be exempt from vaccinations if they are older than 30; have been continuously enrolled in an institution of higher education since fall 2011; are enrolled in non-credit courses; are enrolled in 100 percent distance education or online courses; are dual-credit students taking courses that meet at a facility not located on a higher education campus; have a signed medical exemption or have a conscientious objection.
