Strykers re-sign Cronin and Jones

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The Woodlands Strykers are getting closer to assembling their roster for the 2013 season.

The team re-signed Martin Cronin and Kael Jones who played for the Strykers during their inaugural season. They will once again be in uniform when the Strykers open their second season on May 30 against the Victoria Generals.

Cronin, a native of The Woodlands, is a sophomore at the University of Dallas. So far this season he has both started and come out of the bullpen appearing in eight games with two being starts. In 24 innings pitched he has recorded 12 strikeouts and picked up two saves while logging a 4.12 ERA.

Last season, Martin played in 17 games making three starts and threw a little more than 24 innings. He is a business major.

Jones is a native of Kirbyville. While at Kirbyville High School, Jones was an all-district shortstop and named an all-district pitcher his final two seasons. The right-hander is now a redshirt freshman for the Bengals of LSU-Eunice where he will be majoring in secondary education.

Jones appeared in six games for the Strykers last season. In a little more than 14 innings of work he was 1-0 with a 3.76 ERA and 12 strikeouts.
