The Warriors (20-12) scored five runs in the second inning and added single markers in the sixth and seventh to take a seemingly comfortable 7-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning.

But Brazos Christian tied it with a five-run seventh and then added a run in the eighth inning to advance to Wednesday morning’s TAPPS 3A state championship game.

Drew Ross singled and drove in two runs for the Warriors. James Bento and Kyle Caddell accounted for the Warriors’ only other hits, both singles. Bento stole three bases and Adam Lozano swiped two more.

Garrett Wolforth and Andrew Van Horn each added an RBI. Wolforth pitched the first six innings, striking out nine.

Brazos Christian will take on Bullard The Brook Hill at 10 a.m. Wednesday for the state title.
