THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands Strykers are hard at work preparing for Opening Day which is May 30.

In the meantime, the team signed two college teammates. The team has signed right-handed pitcher Alexis Garza and catcher Connor Kalisky from the University of The Incarnate Word.

Garza, a native of McAllen, is in his first year for the Cardinals. He previously played at the University of New Mexico. The 6-foot-1 junior was a strong force on the pitching staff for the Cardinals this season. For the season he made 10 starts and threw one complete game. He threw a little more than 55 innings and recorded 51 strikeouts. He garnered a 6-2 record with a 2.91 ERA. He is a Kinesiology major.

Kalisky is a native of San Antonio. He redshirted this past season with the Cardinals. He graduated from Marshall High School. In his last season at Marshall, he batted .373 with a .464 on base percentage. He would add 10 doubles and four home runs. At Incarnate Word, he is majoring in accounting and currently holds a 3.27 GPA.

"These two guys will be great additions to our team", Strykers owner and general manager Ramiro Lozano said. "Garza has done a great job on the mound this season and we are confident he will continue that with us. I have seen Connor at practices this season, and I'm excited to see what he can do."

The Strykers first game is against the Victoria Generals at Stryker Stadium located at the Woodlands Christian Academy located at 5800 Academy Way off of College Park Drive west of Interstate 45.

The team is looking for one other host family for the season.
