College Park boys remain perfect in 14-5A

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – With a playoff berth secured the College Park High School boys’ basketball team took aim on a District 14-5A championship at home Friday. The Cavaliers held off visiting A&M Consolidated 65-49 for their 20th consecutive victory.

Keanu Andaya led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points, including nine in the second half, and College Park stayed unbeaten in district play. The Cavs are now 9-0 in league play and 27-5 overall.

Brett Reed and Chandler Morris contributed with 12 and 11 points respectively and College Park was in control throughout over the Tigers, who fall to 3-7 in district play and 8-20 overall.

The Cavaliers led by as many as 18 points in the second half, enjoying a 53-35 advantage with just over six minutes remaining in the game. The Tigers scored the next five points to make it a 12-point game but that was as close as they got.

Kyle Robertson and Tristan Newman each finished with nine points for College Park while Jayden Holden scored six points and Jack Freeman added three more.

College Park visits Lufkin on Tuesday before returning home for the big game at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, with The Woodlands.
