THE WOODLANDS, Texas – For over 30 years, M. Fatheree Interiors has been serving residents of The Woodlands and the surrounding North Houston area by providing outstanding furniture and interior design services, turning ordinary houses into extraordinary homes.

For over 30 years, the family-owned business has been serving customers in The Woodlands and Greater Houston Area communities.

In the early 1960’s, Miriam Fatheree, a student studying marketing, realized that her true passion was interior design.

“I had a passion for beautiful things and helping people decorate their homes,” said Miriam.

It wasn’t long before Miriam opened her own furniture and interior design store, and since then, it has continued to grow into a family-owned business. When the original store was lost to a fire in 1984, M. Fatheree reopened in a new location on FM 1960 where it was located for 17 years. Along with selling furniture and home accessories, M. Fatheree specialized in showcasing homes for builders in the Kingwood area. The business continued to thrive, but as the community started to be built out, a homebuilder suggested that they move to The Woodlands: and that is exactly what they did.

“We started exploring the possibilities of opening a store over here,” said Miriam. “It was a huge step and a unique opportunity.”

In 1997, M. Fatheree Interiors officially opened in The Woodlands. Still to this day, the company has continued to grow and thrive in the community. As the business has grown, so has the involvement of Miriam’s family. Her son, Michael, has been helping in the company ever since he was a young boy.

“He helped me deliver a coffee table when he was barely able to pick up one end of it,” said Miriam. “He has been immersed in the business all of his life.”

Now married with his own family, Michael and his wife, Michelle, both attended The Art Institute of Houston so they could help build and grow the business, and they are now heavily involved in the day-to-day logistics of M. Fatheree Interiors.

“This is all we are,” said Miriam. “There are no outside partners, just the three of us and of course, we are supported by a great sales and design team.”

Located on I-45 North, across from The Woodlands Mall, M. Fatheree’s 10,000 square-foot showroom contains many different styles and prices of furniture, artwork and home accessories, tailoring to many different clients. They also offer a variety of design services such as furnishing entire rooms or homes, space planning, pre and post-construction, custom draperies and many more.

“We have many different styles from traditional to transitional, and everything in between,” said Michelle.

M. Fatheree still continues to design and furnish showcase homes for builders.

“The builders come to us and want us to do the design work such as selecting tile, paint, plumbing fixtures and so on,” said Michael. “Then when it’s complete, we put the furnishings in. Typically, the showcase will be open for two or three weeks, and a lot of times, we sell everything in the house.”

Most recently, they were asked to do the Southern Living home in Cypress. The M. Fatheree team furnished the entire home. To view a video of the home, click here.

At M. Fatheree Interiors, Miriam, Michael, Michelle, and their design team use their expertise to design and furnish homes, but they also focus on quality customer service and tailor each project to that specific client.

“It is important to get to know the customer,” said Michelle. “It isn’t about us, it’s about them. That is really important. It is our responsibility to make the house be what they want it to be and fulfill their needs.”

Another service that M. Fatheree offers that not many people know about is seasonal decorating: from Easter to Christmas and even Mardi Gras. “We’ve done an Elvis Christmas tree before,” laughed Miriam. “It can definitely test our creativity.”

Overall, M. Fatheree Interiors doesn’t just do business with their clients, they create relationships with them. They pride themselves in being family-owned and interacting with The Woodlands community.

“The money stays in the community,” said Michael. “It doesn’t get any more hometown family owned than we are. We are just blessed. That’s all there is to it.”

For Michelle, she thoroughly enjoys being able to work with her family each and every day. For any customer who walks into their store, it will not be a surprise if one or all three of the Fatherees are there. They pride themselves on getting to know every customer, whether they are just buying a lamp, or several pieces of furniture.

“Everyone is so different and have different stories and lifestyles. It is so unique,” said Michelle.

M. Fatheree Interiors does the best work they can possibly do to tailor to each customer and make houses into fabulous homes.

“That is the kind of business we want to have, where people depend on us and know we are here to help them anytime they want something to make their home beautiful,” said Miriam.
