Medical Aesthetics and Laser in The Woodlands offering the latest in lip augmentation
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Medical Aesthetics and Laser in The Woodlands is pumped to be among the first to offer the latest in lip augmentation.
Volbella, recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration, is formulated with a proprietary filler technology from Allergen.
Allison Norman, medical aesthetics provider at Medical Aesthetics and Laser, said Volbella simply enriches what nature already provided.
"It enhances your lips and softens vertical lip lines, but doesn't give you the 'duck lips'," Norman said. "We get women every day who want to enhance a little bit, start slow, and still look natural. There wasn't really anything available … until now."
The cost is $400 per syringe – most women typically require one syringe. The results are immediate and last up to one year.
There may be initial swelling, and up to 50 percent of patients will experience some bruising, Norman said, but not as much as with previous products.
"Lip injections can be painful, but this product has lidocaine in it," Norman said. "Once you start the injections, the lidocaine numbs your lips."
Norman said they can further minimize discomfort with numbing cream and ice.
To fully prepare for Volbella injections, Norman offers these tips.
- Schedule a consultation to go over your current medications and supplements
- Avoid certain supplements and NSAID's (ibuprofen, aspirin) for at least one week before your injection
- Ask about arnica, a supplement that helps prepare the body for bruising and swelling
"There are a lot of fillers that come and go, but I'm really excited about this one," Norman said. "It fits everybody."
