THE WOODLANDS, TX – After weeks of false starts over months of soul-searing heat and brightness, the skies are finally about to open up, and with a vengeance. All weekend long, you can expect some rain, thunder, and cooler temps.

Get those umbrellas ready; there’s a storm a-comin’…

Staggeringly, our high today will only be 85 degrees (with a humidity factor that will make it feel like 93). The cloud cover will remain extensive as the afternoon drizzle begins, but things should settle down overnight as we hit a low of 74. There might be some rumbling and raindrops, but you can sleep knowing the flood waters aren’t coming.

Saturday will see a relatively calm morning, but come lunchtime we’ll give an impressive uptick in wind and cloud cover as we hit our high of 91; but the afternoon will see a dive in temps and winds as the thunderstorms come back through. We’ll be back into the 80s before sundown with an overnight low around 76 keeping things muggy. Plan for the clouds to pretty much obscure the sky for the rest of the weekend from this point onwards.

As the pressure rises on Sunday, it will look gloomier and doomier until the afternoon thunderstorms return with a boom. The high will get up to 94 in the early afternoon but the wetness in the air will make it feel like 103, so keep that in mind as you dress against the elements should you go outdoors. Overnight into Monday, the rains will abate somewhat but the clouds will stay put. But this is all the quiet before the storms that will hit us starting Monday afternoon and will be sticking around for a while…

Stay tuned for weather updates from Woodlands Online, and be sure to check us out on Monday for our “Week Ahead” forecast.
