HS Water Polo: First UIL Bi-District Playoff Tournament
THE WOODLANDS, TX – The UIL sanctioned High School Water Polo at the beginning of the year and for the first time the Bi-District playoffs were held at the CISD Natatorium. This featured eight of the teams from around The Woodlands area including both Conroe boys and girls, The Woodlands girls and boys, College Park boys and girls, Grand Oaks girls and Oak Ridge boys.
Conroe vs Rockwall-Heath – Girls
Unfortunately for Conroe, Rockwall-Heath came out firing in the first quarter. Ali Hall with Heath was able to put down 10 points overall which matched Conroe’s final score. Rockwall-Heath will move on to the Area Round October 15th.
Grand Oaks vs Rockwall – Girls
Number four with Rockwall was the player of the game with 11 points overall, 5 of which was in the first quarter. Unfortunately for Grand Oaks, Rockwall will move on to the Area Round on October 15th.
Texarkana vs The Woodlands – Girls
The Woodlands girls dominated from the sound of the first whistle, chalking up 8 in the first quarter. They would keep Texarkana scoreless until the fourth quarter and take the easy win in the first playoff round, 15-1.
Nacogdoches vs College Park - Girls
College Park would keep Nacogdoches to just 2 points in the first half while posting up 8 goals themselves. They would coast the rest of the game, keeping a tight defense and holding them to just 5 points overall. College Park will move on with The Woodlands to the Area Round this weekend.
College Park vs Rockwall - Boys
Rockwall would struggle with their attacks on the College Park defense, while College Park would shine on offense. Nicolas Carballo with College Park would be the player of the game with 8 total points helping College Park take a 24-9 victory.
Nacogdoches vs The Woodlands – Boys
Just like the girls, The Woodlands would dominate their opponent from the start of the whistle. With many players scoring multiple times, The Woodlands looks to go deep into the playoffs if they keep playing the way they did today. Final score 20-3.
Oak Ridge vs Rockwall-Heath – Boys
Rockwall-Heath kept the game interesting by going point for point with Oak Ridge. Unfortunately for Heath, Oak Ridge would stay consistent and break away, take the lead, and keep it in the second half. Oak Ridge will move on to the Area Round with a 16-11 victory.
Texarkana vs Conroe – Boys
Ashton 'Brody' Loftin with Conroe would let loose on Texarkana and chalk up an insane 16 points overall, making him the player of the game and possibly the Bi-District Round. Out scoring Texarkana himself, Brody would lead Conroe into the Area Round this weekend.
