Spring Creek DAR Awards $10,000 Grant

SPRING, TX -- On September 14th, Spring Creek Chapter NSDAR had the honor of presenting a $10,000 TXDAR State Regent’s Grant to Wheelchairs for Warriors! Wheelchairs for Warriors is a non-profit organization that provides custom built wheelchairs for veterans and first responders who need wheelchairs and can’t afford them or can’t qualify for them through government sources. The Texas DAR State Regent’s project 2021-2024 supplies grants up to $10,000 for non-profit organizations in Texas that support female veterans.

Past Spring Creek Chapter Regent, Diane Hill, wrote the grant and presented the check to Wheelchairs for Warriors. Wheelchairs for Warriors then presented veteran, Sue Downes, with her custom wheelchair at the Spring Creek Chapter meeting. Founder and Executive Director, Crystal Laramore shared about how she started the organization and Sue Downes shared her story of injury and recovery. An anonymous donor from Spring Creek Chapter supplied the balance of the cost of Sue’s wheelchair. Learn more about Wheelchairs for Warriors at Wheelchairsforwarriors.org
