HOUSTON, TX -- Leger Ketchum & Cohoon, PLLC, today announces a landmark victory in a personal injury case against Ford Motor Company, marking a historic moment in Colorado Springs legal history.

Largest Jury Verdict in Colorado Springs History

"This victory marks a significant milestone in our pursuit of justice," said Bradley Leger, Trial Attorney at Leger Ketchum & Cohoon, PLLC. "This was a hard-fought battle against one of the largest corporations in the world. I could not be prouder of everyone involved, especially my client. Justice was finally served.”

After five-years of litigation, Lorelle Thompson, the plaintiff, was awarded a record-breaking $56.6 million in damages by the jury, surpassing the previous largest verdict in Colorado Springs of $33 million in 2019. The case arose from a 2016 incident involving a defective shifting system in a Ford Expedition, resulting in severe injuries to Thompson. The evidence presented during the trial demonstrated that Thompson's injuries were the result of a known defect in the car’s shifting system,
dating back to 1980. Despite Ford Motor Company's knowledge of the defect since 1980, corrective action was never taken. The jury awarded $45 million in punitive damages.

Bradley Leger brought the case to trial with Houston Trial Attorney Tony Buzbee, alongside Colorado local counsel Brad Holmes. Other attorneys instrumental in securing this historic verdict were James Ketchum, Rodney Castille, Colby Holler and Mike Blanton.

"Our firm remains steadfast in our commitment to championing the rights of individuals against big corporate bullies," said Leger. "Today's verdict sends a clear message that accountability has no bounds."
