Pet of the Week - Petra

CONROE, TX -- Meet Petra. A lovable 5 year old German Shepherd-Coyote mix. She is owned by Bob & Rose Holden, of Conroe. Petra was found on FM 1488 at age 3 months, and was taken to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. That’s where she met Rose, and was adopted. Petra is MCNs first multi-lingual dog, knowing both English and German. There is no word if Petra actually speaks the languages, but MCN readers will be the first to know if it happens. Judy Suan, with ‘Pawsitively Sharing Aloha Service and Therapy Dog Training’ trained Petra to be her Vietnam Veteran husband Bob’s, service dog. Petra is trained to monitor Bob’s breathing at night, which he has stopped breathing before. Plus Petra helps Bob with his anger issues, and flashbacks from his war. Petra is also very protective of Rose. Petra loves squeaky toys, and according to Rose she keeps her toys in pristine condition. I owe a lot to Rose and her decision to adopt Petra, because it was her husband Bob and Petra that were having breakfast that day, which I occasionally write about, on the day that changed my life.
