Pickup Truck Fire and Diesel Spill Causes Traffic Delays on I-45 Northbound

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Just after 12:00 PM today, a pickup truck towing a large trailer caught fire on northbound I-45 near the Portofino Shopping Center. The driver was able to pull off the roadway between the main lanes and the frontage road and safely exit the vehicle before the fire intensified.

In addition to the trailer, the truck was carrying an extra 50-gallon tank of diesel fuel in the bed, which ruptured and spilled during the incident. Firefighters quickly responded and successfully extinguished the flames before the fire could spread further. Due to the diesel spill, the Hazmat team was called to assist with containment and cleanup efforts.

Emergency crews remain on the scene, and traffic in the area is moving slowly as responders work to clear the incident. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes and exercise caution when traveling through the area.
