Magnolias Chapter Hosts 11th Annual Bag Bee With Canopy Cancer Center at Memorial Hermann Hospital

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Magnolias Chapter of National Charity League, Inc. (NCL), the nation’s premier mother-daughter volunteer organization, has announced the results of a recent philanthropy event with Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center at Memorial Hermann Hospital The Woodlands in which 86 Bee Bags were sewed in support of breast cancer patients by 67 volunteers over 5 hours.

The 2024 “Bag Bee” is The Magnolias 11th annual event. “The impact NCL The Magnolias has had on Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center at Memorial Hermann Hospital over the years in The Woodlands has allowed us to do more for the community than we ever thought possible,” said The Magnolias Bag Bee Coordinator Krista Burleson. “These teen girls and their moms have impacted hundreds of lives by volunteering their time and talent to sew beautiful black tote bags lined with pink fabric to be used during chemotherapy treatment.”

Overall, The Magnolias Chapter mother-daughter teams volunteered 5,216 philanthropy hours so far in the 2024-2025 year for over a dozen philanthropic organizations in the community, including Easter Seals, The Woodlands Children's Museum, Interfaith The Woodlands, and Meals on Wheels.

Over the past year, the Chapter has created blankets for Project Linus, provided summer reading and tutoring services for The Champion Project, and created homemade sympathy cards for Little Angel Network, just to name a few.
