THE WOODLANDS, TX – It can’t be denied that the weather has been wacky. Over the past couple of weeks we’ve dealt with rains and flooding – with areas like River Plantation becoming the new Atlantis – combined with last night’s apocalyptic event that left about a million of our southern neighbors without power for the foreseeable future.

Spring seems to be going out with a bang

Fortunately, this time around we emerged relatively unscathed – some more fallen trees and road debris – and able to somewhat enjoy the weekend, starting with this afternoon. The cloud coverage will peak late this afternoon, after which the skies will considerably clear up. Right around the same time, we’ll hit our high of 78 (with four degrees added to the heat index thanks to all the remaining precipitation in the air). There may be some small chances of rain scattered about, but absolutely nothing like the evening before. If you have kiddos climbing the walls, take them to Maximum Athletics for an Open Gym Night to keep them occupied.

Right around the time the Saturday morning sun rises around 7 a.m., the clouds will be at a low, as will the overnight temperature of 65. Rapidly, however, the mercury will climb and not stop until it hits 91 in the afternoon. Rising pressure and dropping humidity will keep us warm and dry, and there won’t even be a stiff breeze to cool things down. This is definitely an outdoors day, in case you need to clear branch debris from your yard or want to hit an outdoor event, like the Bands, Badges, & Bikes family event at Northshore Park.

Overnight from Saturday into Sunday, we’ll enjoy starry skies and calm breezes. But once the sun gets high enough in the sky, it will be another hot one, with another high in the low 90s, plus heat index. The occasional cloud will dot the sky, pushed along by some moderate wind out of the southeast. The chances of rain – for this weekend and most of next week – are slim but never at zero. Beat the heat at Ale & Ivy as they present their Breakfast at Tiffany’s brunch event complete with DJ.

As Monday hits, look for warm (hot), dry weather both day and night as spring begins its morph into summer…
