BRYAN, Texas – Oak Ridge High School football team sophomore quarterback Braden Letney and junior running back sensation Kwame Etwi combined for 366 yards and five touchdowns as the War Eagles toppled the Bryan Vikings in wild come-from-behind fashion, 36-33, at Merrill Green Stadium Friday Night.

Patrick Coale got the War Eagles (5-0, 1-0) on the board with a 27-yard field goal after Bryan's (2-3, 0-1) Bobby Johnson had run for an earlier score and the Vikings led 7-3.

Later in the first quarter, Braden Letney optioned from the five yard line and rumbled into the end zone putting Oak Ridge up 10-7 after the successful extra point by Coale.

Bryan's Johnson proceeded to run roughshod through and around the Oak Ridge defense eating up yards and running for three more scores and also caught a 20-yard TD reception and the Vikings were up 33-17 at the end of the third quarter.

From that point on it was the Kwame Etwi Show as he ran for three more scores with the last one being a 59-yard scamper as Oak Ridge took the lead for the first time since the first quarter. Coale's extra point attempt was wide left leaving the score 36-33 and Bryan plenty of time with over two and a half minutes remaining to try and tie the score or take the lead.

The Vikings were able to drive the length of the field and had a chance to win the game on the last play of the game but Oak Ridge cornerback Tyler Marcel batted the Bryan QB's pass away in the back corner of the end zone to preserve the War Eagle victory.

Etwi ran for 212 yards on 23 carries and four TD's. Letney rushed for 66 yards while passing for 88.

Bryan's Johnson averaged over 10 yards a carry in carrying the ball 17 times for 172 yards and four TD's to go along with his lone receiving score.

Oak Ridge plays College Park (3-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Woodforest Bank Stadium. It will be the Cavaliers’ district opener.
