Brad Lembcke Named President of Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center

HOUSTON, TX -- Bradley T. Lembcke, MD, MBA, has been selected as president of Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, the flagship academic medical institution of the St. Luke’s Health System in the Texas Medical Center, effective March 4.

Baylor St. Luke’s is a joint venture with Baylor College of Medicine and serves as one of the medical school’s teaching hospitals.

Dr. Lembcke has been a member of the Baylor College of Medicine faculty since joining Baylor St. Luke’s and has provided strong support for the College’s missions of healthcare, education and research,” said Dr. Paul Klotman, president, CEO and executive dean of Baylor College of Medicine.

In his role as president of Baylor St. Luke’s, Lembcke will provide clinical leadership to ensure exceptional patient care and lead the development and implementation of initiatives that advance growth, optimize clinical operations and improve the health of the communities the hospital services in a manner that is consistent with the system’s mission, vision, and values.

Lembcke joined St. Luke’s Health as senior vice president and chief medical officer in December 2018. During that time, he also served as chief medical officer for Baylor St. Luke’s from February 2020 to December 2021 and most recently served as the interim president of Baylor St. Luke’s. Lembcke also is chief medical officer for the South Region of CommonSpirit, a role he will continue until a permanent successor is selected.

Prior to joining St. Luke’s, Lembcke worked at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas as an internal medicine hospitalist. During his 21 years at the Dallas hospital, Lembcke also kept a clinical practice, building and leading a large hospitalist group that ultimately cared for more than 400 patients a day. He also held administrative leadership positions in case management, utilization, quality, patient safety, and informatics. He served as Baylor University Medical Center chief of staff for three years and was chief medical officer from 2013 to 2018. Lembcke is experienced in medical staff affairs and has extensive involvement in the formation, growth, development, and operations of an accountable care organization/clinically integrated network.

Lembcke earned a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and his Medical Doctorate from University of Texas Health Science Center. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at University of Texas Southwestern, Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University. He has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas A&M College of Medicine and is a proud member of the Baylor College of Medicine Faculty.
